Lack of tools

Moved in to the new house mid-dec last year. My shack is somehow still in a mess. Most things is already out of the boxes. My workbench is rather still not sufficient to accommodate most of the things I need to use.

The radio is still in the box. Antenna not installed. CNC not assembled. In order to re-assemble my CNC, I need a rigid and heavy duty table to support the weight of almost 120kg or maybe more.. With a rigid and heavy table, I may be able to reduce the noise generated by the CNC and also possible to run it at a much faster speed.

In order to have this, I may have to acquire the most important tools... a welding machine. Contacted one of my friend to sells these machines and he suggested me to get a used unit since it's only for my home use... Hmmmm... perhaps a used unit capable of argon welding maybe....

MIG & TIG welders are getting cheaper (but its still too much for my coffer). There are 3-in-1 set with TIG, Plasma cutter & Stick welding capabilities about RM3k range... but for home DIY, the CO2 bottle can be a PITA... Gas company don't sell the bottles to you, they rent. & if you can finish the bottle within a hire period, you will have to pay more rental or return the bottle... this make it expensive over time.

MAG (MIG using flux core wires) would be my choice if they ever become more common here...

For now, I spot weld my assembly & send them to my friendly local welder with MIG or TIG capability to finish off the job... they also weld better then I can...

Thanks for the thoughts. I have abandoned the idea of buying the welding machine as I found a fabricator who can build 29"x40" metal workbench for my cnc at a very good price. <RM200..
